Group Destination Services
The Group Destination Services (GDS) team consists of travel professionals within the Groups Department at the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. It provides destination management assistance to both inbound and locally-based groups, meetings and conferences, assisting with planning, negotiating and executing group travel programs to enhance their travel experience. The team is based in Nassau and Grand Bahama Island (GBI), with liaisons in Ministry of Tourism offices in Marsh Harbour, Abaco; Harbour Island and Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera; and George Town, Exuma. |
The services that the GDS team can assist with include:
• Arranging site inspections and assisting in the overall planning and vendor selection for conferences, meetings, incentive trips and symposiums in Nassau/Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island and other select islands.
• Liaising with other Bahamas Government Ministries and agencies, such as Immigration, Customs and Foreign Affairs, in order to secure special treatment, customs waivers, temporary work permits, entertainment union waivers, V.I.P. and diplomatic handling.
• Providing "Meet and Greet" services at all airports and cruise ports; special assistance or departure procedures and transfers between domestic and international terminals; V.I.P. handling and group representative access to arrival halls; host hospitality and information desks at hotels and other venues.
• Working with ground operators to ensure smooth and flawless operation of group programs
• Arranging speakers from the Ministry of Tourism, other Ministries or the private sector to welcome or address groups.
• Organizing PR and local media exposure when applicable.
Please note that some of the above services will carry an expense to the group.
